About

The AI Summer School 2023 will take place from September 4-8 at Konrad-Martin-Haus in Bad Kösen. The program is designed for students interested in gaining knowledge about Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its use in scientific research. Participants will also have the opportunity to network during interactive activities and group work.

Computational and Data Science

The Master's in Computational and Data Science (CDS) is an interdisciplinary, two-year degree program at Friedrich Schiller University Jena. It introduces students with a Bachelor's degree in the sciences, computers science, and mathematics to the fundamental concepts of computer simulation and data analysis. The aim is to provide students with the background necessary to master computational methods and data-driven techniques that are applicable in many career paths of the modern information society.

THInKI

THInKI is a joint project of Friedrich Schiller University Jena and Technische Universität Ilmenau. The project fosters innovation and growth in the technology sector by supporting university education in the field of artificial intelligence. The AI Summer School 2023 is part of the THInKI subproject Computational and Data Science. THInKI is funded by Bundesministeriums für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) and Freistaat Thüringen under the Bund-Länder-Initiative zur Förderung der Künstlichen Intelligenz in der Hochschulbildung (Förderkennzeichen: 16DHBKI084, 16DHBKI085).

Interactive Inference

The Interactive Inference Project at Friedrich Schiller University Jena is a research project funded by Carl Zeiss Foundation. The project targets a better understanding of the algorithmic techniques and challenges for inference posed by different classes of probabilistic models. Corresponding challenges of probabilistic inference are overcome by a set of enabling technologies, including algorithm engineering, high-performance computing, automatic differentiation, logic, and visualization. The interactive inference project partners with the AI Summer School 2023 and shares respective research expertise with the participating students.
